This first edition contains an introduction to how we think about services and why we believe that Service Thinking is so important. Following that is our response to Lord Darzi’s review of the NHS exploring how Service Thinking can help make healthcare more focused on individuals. Our thinking is often a product of the past. This is compounded in a world where the past is all about product thinking. The future demands fresh perspectives. Service Thinking provides just that. Read on
In his review / report on the NHS, “High Quality Care for All” Lord Darzi defines quality in service as “clinically effective, personal and safe”. ’Personal’ is the quality that stands out as a change from the past. Darzi believes that services must be orientated around individuals; that services must be fit for everyone’s individual needs. Achieving this goal is a Service Design challenge.
