Public Service Design: do more with less
It seems to be all about cuts in the public sector, as it is budget day, so innovation needs to focus on saving money, without sacrificing quality if possible.
At live|work we were ahead of the game in our work with Sunderland City to design a service to support people back to work for less money and to create savings for the taxpayer. This work is now recognised in a case study from NESTA and the Innovation Unit titled Radical efficiency:
Different, better, lower cost public services
‘Radical efficiency’ is about different, better and lower cost public services. It is about innovation that delivers much better public outcomes for much lower cost.
Radical efficiency is not about tweaking existing services. Rather, it is about generating new perspectives on old problems to ensure a genuine shift in the nature and efficiency of the services on offer.
