New applications of design 27.10.10
In October 2010, the Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) at the University of Tromsø received funds through the Norwegian Design Council’s Design Pilot programme to help transform their research into useful and usable services to their community. The programme aims to stimulate innovation by applying design processes to issues rarely considered the domain of design in a traditional sense.
live|work have been commissioned to undertake an exciting project for the University. Our job is to design services for peace and security programming in culturally diverse contexts such as disaster zones in developing countries. This project will also contribute to the new agenda on Strategic Design and Public Policy that is now pushing this work forward.
live|work will collaborate with the Agenda on Strategic Design and Public Policy team throughout the project.
For further reading on this exciting area of design Derek Miller, Lisa Rudnick, former directors of the Security Needs Assessment Protocol (SNAP) project at United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research, and Lucy Kimbell, Said Business School, Oxford University, have together written a piece published in the latest edition of SEE Bulletin.
